Lovely, Luscious, Lava Flow

Not all that long ago....hmmm,....well....when was that?
(Have you noticed that the older you get, "not that long ago" gets longer and longer ago?)

Lets just say, it wasn't "this" year and leave it at that.

We all went to Hawaii for a nice family vacation and while there I fell in love with the Lava Flow.

An awesome tropical, very Hawaiian-ish drink.

And even though we spent lots of time seeing the sights...

And meeting celebrities....

How cool is this? I got to meet Crush while we were there
(I swear...this was the highlight of the trip!!)

I had plenty of time to sit back and enjoy my Lava Flows in the topical sun. (shoot...where's my sunset pic? Damn...it missed it's que).

Anyways....the other day I thought...ooooh...how I could go for one right about now.

How do you make those?!!

Hmm...lets see if you tell what the ingredients are by looking at the photo reflection? hee heee

Photobucket

1 oz light rum
1 oz coconut rum
2 oz strawberries (fresh or frozen)
1 small banana
2 oz pineapple juice
2 oz coconut cream

In a blender, blend the rums and strawberries until a smooth paste is formed

Pour the berry mixture into a nice tall glass.

Rinse out the blender and add the remaining ingredients, plus some ice cubes (about 6...not too many). Blend until smooth.

Gently pour this mixture over the strawberry mixture so that it floats...

Watch as the Lava starts to flow up the glass......

This glass was a double...so the Lava didn't "flow" like it should.....but you get the idea. It's still pretty. It still tasted good......but no matter what, even if I had a cool little umbrella, it couldn't stand up to the first time in Hawaii when I fell in love with the Lava Flow.
